Welcome to WATAPUR!

WATAPUR is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit foundation that is committed to serving the Afghan community in Illinois. They offer a wide range of services to support those in need, including assistance with basic needs such as food, shelter, and clothing. These services are particularly important for low-income Afghan individuals and families who may be struggling to make ends meet.

In addition to providing basic needs support, WATAPUR also offers resources to help cover funeral and burial expenses for those who cannot afford them. This is a crucial service that can alleviate financial burden and allow families to properly mourn their loved ones.

WATAPUR's education and youth services are designed to support the development and well-being of Afghan children and young people. They offer literacy education for adults to obtain the knowledge and skills necessary for employment and self-sufficiency. Basic English language and computer learning classes are also available to improve comprehension skills, as well as math skills. Basic Pashto and Dari language classes, as well as Quran learning classes, are also provided for Afghan children.

Overall, WATAPUR is a dedicated and valuable resource for the Afghan community in Illinois. They aim to support and empower individuals and families, particularly those who are struggling financially, to help them succeed and thrive in challenging circumstances.

Our vision is to create a world where Afghan communities in the U.S. and Afghanistan have access to quality education and basic resources, empowering them to reach their full potential and positively impact their communities. We strive to be a catalyst for positive change and a leading force in promoting education and literacy as fundamental drivers of social and economic mobility.

Our Mission

Our mission is to identify education leaders within Afghan communities in the U.S. and Afghanistan, recognize their skills, and connect them with the necessary resources and opportunities to support their access to education and employment. By doing so, we strive to help individuals achieve their educational and personal goals, ultimately contributing to a reduction in poverty within these communities. We aim to provide a platform for individuals to connect with donors and government organizations, enabling them to access scholarships and other forms of financial assistance for education and literacy.

Our Objectives

  • 1- To identify and recognize education leaders within Afghan communities in the U.S. and Afghanistan.
  • 2- To connect education leaders with resources and opportunities that support them in accessing quality education and achieving their goals.
  • 3- To increase access to education and literacy resources for disadvantaged communities, particularly refugees and immigrants.
  • 4- To promote community awareness and engagement around the importance of education and literacy as fundamental drivers of social and economic mobility.
  • 5- To work collaboratively with schools, community colleges, and other organizations to develop and implement effective educational programs and initiatives.
