Empowering the Afghan Community in Illinois

WATAPUR is a trusted Afghan community center in Chicago, Illinois, dedicated to supporting refugees, immigrants, and low-income families through culturally responsive human services.

We offer youth development programs, women’s empowerment workshops, ESL classes, Taleem-e-deen classes, career and job search assistance, and community-building events that help Afghan families and newcomers integrate and thrive in the U.S.

We also support youth recreation programs such as official cricket and soccer teams that compete in local leagues, proudly representing our community. Additionally, through our Ghamai media services, we provide important awareness programs focused on integration, education, health, and community engagement.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded and led by members of the Afghan community in 2020, we proudly serve the growing Afghan population in Illinois with compassion, dignity, and community care.
